Adjustment Layers

I had to make the image from last week look better, so I brightened it a bit. It was already in focus, so there wasn't much to do.

Then I had to edit it in an unusual way, so that's what I did.

I know, it's hideous, but the first had to be monochromatic, second the subject and background contrasting colors, third one mess with saturation, and fourth one brighten the image. I like the green monochromatic, because green is associated with nature and this is in the woods. I used different adjustment layers to edit these.

I'm extremely tired and running on two hours of sleep, so my descriptions suck. Pardon me. Goodnight!

Playing with Reality

We had to take our object from one picture and place it in a new background. Now my sunflower hangs on the wall alongside plaques for each branch of the military. They really contrast. But both are personal to me.

How cute! I needed to create the illusion perspective and this seemed like a good photo where there could be a few sunflowers. Now my flower is on the cute head of my adorable little cousin.

Nifty.

What interests me about my subject? Well it's brightly colored orange-yellow, so it stands out in pictures. It's a pin and a clip. It's artificial, but represents a living object, so it works in pictures with nature and with man-made objects. It has a use. It can be worn in my hair as a clip, or used as a pin.

Sunflower

The idea was to pick a visually interesting object and take pictures with it throughout the day. I chose my sunflower clip/pin. It's special to me. Sunflowers are my favorite flowers and a close friend bought this for me as a surprise. When I wear it I'm bright and happy, "a little ray of sunshine."

I took pictures throughout the day, but I didn't get the best variety because around 8 when I got back to my dorm room I realized my pin was missing! It wasn't in my purse, wasn't in my pockets. It's lost in the streets of Philly. My friend and I ran around the block looking for it, but it wasn't there anymore. I couldn't get the rest of my pictures because my object was gone. I'm really bummed out. My sunflower is special to me. Even getting another one won't be the same.

9:50 ~ Sunflower clip in my hair. This picture was taken after Art History class.

Around 10:10 ~ Walking up to Dani's room. I pass the wall with graffiti on it.

Around 11 ~ Sunflower poses with the dinosaur drawing!

Around 12 ~ Lunchtime! The coffee machine just gave us hot water, and the food was generally disappointing, but I did get a good picture.

12:30 ~ Just got to 2D Design. I set up my sunflower pin on the easel before class started.

Around 12:50 ~ Dani poses with my sunflower during 2D. Valerie makes a funny face in the background.

Around 4 ~ Still in my 6 hour 2D Design class, bored, I drop my sunflower on the floor. Maddie's shoes are personalized and hand-painted. And they made a great picture.

7:24 ~ Just outside Moore on our way to Blick. My friends and my sunflower. :)

Around 7:30 ~ We pass a shiny building. It's the color of the sky in this picture.

10:34 ~ So I had no more sunflower after that. Just a blue flower clip that is not as amazing as my sunflower clip. I'm here typing this blog and stuck at 9 events. So here's a picture of my blog as I'm writing it, including a picture of my sunflower clip that you see above. Now it's just a memory.

Required 1st blog

3 things I've noticed since being at Moore

1. There's so much to do in the city around here. And it's easy to get around. Walking isn't that bad.
2. There are a lot of homeless people in Philadelphia. Some of them talk to themselves.
3. Most of the girls at Moore are really friendly, which isn't something I'm used to.

But I'm so glad I'm here right now.
